The Cause

Our goal at the Foundation for Edmonds School District is to shape students’ futures with you as our partners. When you sign up to run or walk, or sponsor one of our participating teams, you will help the students of the Edmonds School District to maximize their personal, creative and academic potential.

Proceeds from this event will be used in two different ways. Fifty-percent of the proceeds will be directly granted to the participating school teams that have twenty or more participants. The schools choose how to use the money to extend student learning on their campuses. In years past, schools have used these funds in a variety of ways to support student learning through the purchase of sheet music for a high school music department to pre-k early learning to reading enrichment programs.

At Lynndale Elementary School, funds have made a tremendous difference by supporting afterschool enrichment opportunities. “As the winning school, we were provided with money to go towards our afterschool program, that was utilized by over 250 of our students, and appreciated by our parents,” says Lynndale Principal, Chris Fulford (seen at the right receiving the trophy and proceeds check from Executive Director, Deborah Anderson).

The remaining portion of event proceeds will support Foundation programs including:

  • Creative Classroom Grants for teachers and School-wide Grants for schools
  • Stipends to cover the cost of “college in high school” coursework
  • Surplus computers for low-income families
  • Afterschool Study programs for struggling 7th and 8th grade students
