The Foundation for Edmonds School District’s Early Learning initiative is driven by strategies to improve the alignment and integration of high-quality early learning programs and to bridge the learning gap for children ages 3-5.
We know that quality early learning environments were decimated during the pandemic, leaving an oasis of available, affordable and quality in-home childcare. With the resurgence of in-home childcare providers, there are a lack of resources, professional development, and coordinated alignment and integration of early learning programs to surrounding Snohomish County School Districts. Quality early learning environments are integral to early childhood learning and development.
The Early Learning program would create quality early learning environments through developmentally appropriate play combined with strong academic preparation in reading with a particular emphasis on math numeracy. We know that children learn best through play. By creating early learning environments enriched with math discovery games, it will build a positive interaction and appreciation for early numeracy and would set the stage for positive life-long learning for math and math related fields.
