Essay

You will be asked to ATTACH an essay, in pdf format, (500 words maximum) expressing what in your life has led you to apply for these scholarships. In your essay, please include how a monetary award would help you achieve your educational goals. Please find a description of all the scholarships offered in the Foundation’s Scholarship Descriptions packet available above. By submitting this application, you will automatically be considered for all the scholarships.  In your essay, please include a description of your career path (teaching, music, engineering, vocational, etc.) and your educational goals as you will see that some scholarships are specific as to what program a student will pursue in their post-high school education.

Those students applying for Edmonds School District Scholar-Athlete awards (candidates are nominated by school Athletic Directors) should carefully read all requirements and expectations for this scholarship and related application in the Scholarship Description Packet (see top of page).

Students applying for the LENOVO Thinkpad Scholarship should also include a second essay. Your second essay should include an overview of your involvement with Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) during your high school career. Be very clear in stating your plans for your post high school education including where you plan to get your STEM related degree. See the Scholarship Description Packet (top of the page) for more information.

Applicant Appraisal

Through the Application Program, send an Applicant Appraisal form to a school counselor or academic adviser. The applicant appraisal form is a list of questions on which the appraiser rates you on a scale. The appraiser will also provide any comments on any special circumstances or financial situation you may have. This person will receive an email and instructions on how to send the completed form back through the automated system; you will not see the appraisal form. You will be notified by email when the person providing the Applicant Appraisal has completed the form. Once it is completed, you will be able to mark it as 'complete' in the application program.

Letters of Reference

Through the Application Program, you must include two letters of reference, each less than a year old. One must be from a faculty member. For Edmonds School District Scholar Athlete Scholarships, at least one letter must be from a high school coach.

You must upload recommendations (PDFs only) that have been provided to you. If you have a physical copy of the appraisal, but not an electronic copy, you will need to create a PDF using a scanner or scanner app on a phone. Alternatively, you can ask the recommender who wrote your letter to email you a PDF file of the letter that you can upload through the system.

IMPORTANT!! Before submitting the applications, please confirm you have two Letters of Reference!

It is your responsibility to be sure that you have two recommendations as part of your finished application.
