Development Manager

Full time position - Monday through Friday

Pay: $60,000 - $70,000 per year

Job Definition:

Under general direction, with the Executive Director and the Major Gifts Officer, the Development Manager will design, develop and implement development programs, and will be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing donors, businesses, sponsors as well as new prospects.

Position reports to:

The Foundation’s Executive Director

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Clearly communicate the Foundation’s mission, vision and values, and empathize with donors ‘why’
  • Develop fundraising plans
  • Secure individual, business, and sponsorship gifts to meet annual fundraising goals
  • Orchestrate fall, holiday and spring appeals
  • Coordinate volunteers for events and appeals support
  • Oversee events execution and supervise events contractor
  • Manage existing donor portfolio and prospective donors
  • Coordinate with Communications Manager, key messaging and social media campaigns
  • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including donor database and wealth screening tools.
  • Develop donor cultivation plans, activities and strategies including direct asks
  • Acknowledge donors through public and private recognition
  • Track and report progress
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience

Any combination of education, training, and/or experience equivalent to completion of an associate’s bachelor’s degree. Have a minimum 5 years of non-profit experience, demonstrated ability to secure gifts, execute events and ability to meet objectives.

Skill and Ability to:

Self-starter and results driven. Highly developed speaking and writing skills. Detail oriented. Establish and maintain positive relationships both within and outside the organization.  Write in a creative, descriptive, or factual manner that compels individuals to action; respond to sensitive matters and/or situations with discretion, tact, maintain confidentiality; coordinate complex projects and meet deadlines; prepare presentations and speak effectively in various public forums; utilize standard business software, donor database and wealth screening tools.

Other Characteristics:

Washington’s driver's license; must provide proof of auto insurance; willingness to travel for meeting and conferences (mileage/travel expenses reimbursed); willingness to work extra hours (if required).
