What is an Endowment?

An endowment is a simple way to ensure there is funding for the future. Members of the public can make a gift of money or property to the Foundation. This will be placed into an investment fund that will continue to generate income for years to come.

Our Goal

Our goal is to raise $4 million by mid-2024 to support and serve youth in our region for decades to come. By contributing to the Endowment Fund, you can help us supplement public resources and build paths to educational excellence and equity for all children and families in the district.

The Need

Funding for schools is often inadequate and inequitable, which is why the Foundation for Edmonds School District supplements public resources and provides services that schools cannot offer regularly, such as feeding programs, scholarships, vocational opportunities, and pilot projects for emerging needs. Your gift to the Endowment Fund will enable us to be more responsive to the community's needs and to serve children and teachers now and in the future.

The Benefits

An Endowment Fund offers flexibility, responsiveness, and creativity. The interest that an endowment earns is unrestricted and will allow us to launch new services nimbly as community needs change. It also allows us to focus more on delivering services in direct response to community needs, especially urgent ones that we might not otherwise be able to support. Finally, more flexible, and consistent revenue allows us to be strategic and to think creatively about how to solve problems.

The Edmonds School District is made up of more than 20,000 students in 35 public schools and nearly 1,300 classroom teachers who have dedicated their lives to inspiring and supporting youth. The Endowment Fund can support this community as well as the children and teachers of the future, ensuring they have all the resources they need to thrive.
